Sustainable Livestock Program

Across several of our partner homes, caring for animals is becoming a powerful way to provide nutrition and income. Seven centers are requesting livestock such as chickens, sheep, and rabbits, goats and cows, enabling them to produce daily food while reducing dependency on outside donations. Eggs, milk, and meat supplement children's diets with protein they rarely receive otherwise. When surplus eggs or animals are sold, the income allows the home to purchase additional fresh produce, grains, and other essentials for the children.

What makes this project remarkable is not just the food it provides — but the confidence and dignity it grows. Children learn how to care for animals, collect eggs, and help maintain the farm, gaining practical skills and a sense of ownership. Livestock becomes a living savings account: when emergencies arise, the home can sell animals or eggs to meet unexpected needs.

Agriculture Expansion Initiative

Two of our partner centers have the land and the vision to grow their own crops — they simply need the tools and startup resources to begin. By expanding their agricultural footprint, these homes will be able to raise fresh fruits, vegetables, and staple crops year-round, ensuring that every child has access to healthy meals regardless of supply fluctuations or rising food prices.

A year-round garden means more than having food on the table. It means children can participate in planting, harvesting, composting, and caring for the earth. They learn skills that can shape their futures while experiencing the pride of contributing to their home. Produce grown on-site also reduces monthly food costs significantly — freeing funds for education, medical care, and other essentials.
