Macecall Children’s Home
The land 50km from Macecall holds enormous potential — fertile soil, open space, and the promise of fresh food. Yet without access to consistent year-round water, it sits underused for multiple months out of the year, and the home continues to rely on market prices that rise unpredictably and stretch their limited budget beyond what they can carry. Each month, staff must choose between paying for food or covering other essential needs for the children. It is a cycle of uncertainty, one that leaves little room for planning or growth.
This project will install an irrigation system with solar on the property, allowing Macecall to cultivate crops year-round. In partnership with matching funds from a local non-profit, the home will not only grow fruits and vegetables for their own kitchen but also produce enough to sell at the local market. What begins as access to water becomes access to financial stability. Children will learn farming skills, staff will gain secure food sources, and the home will move toward long-term self-reliance rather than monthly shortages.
The irrigation system turns land into opportunity — food on the table, income for daily needs, and a future that no longer depends on unpredictable donations or market costs.
