Saviour King Education Center is located in the heart of Kibera slum and serves as a vital place of safety, learning, and hope for more than 600 children each day. Here, children are able to learn, play with friends, and receive a daily nutritious meal in an environment where they feel protected and valued. Despite facing major challenges—including the partial demolition of the school to make way for a nearby highway—the community responded with resilience. The school was rebuilt with stronger, more vibrant classrooms and now stands more colorful than ever, a powerful symbol of renewal and determination for students, parents, and the surrounding community. Education is a basic human right and a transformative force, and Saviour King exists to ensure children in Kibera have access to a safe, nurturing place where their futures can take root.

A core part of this mission is the school’s daily feeding program. Many children arrive at school having gone to bed hungry, and the promise of lunch is often what brings them through the gates each morning. By providing a reliable, nutritious meal every school day, Saviour King improves children’s health, concentration, and academic success while offering something just as important—security and hope. Beyond the classroom, students are encouraged to grow through a variety of extracurricular activities, including a thriving football program that competes in tournaments and has proudly won trophies, as well as clubs such as debate, drama, music, and scouts that help children discover talents, build confidence, and develop teamwork and discipline.

Innovation also plays a key role in shaping brighter futures at Saviour King. Through the Solar Cow program, students receive portable “power milk” batteries that charge while they are in class and can be taken home to provide light for studying in households without electricity. These solar devices also support digital learning, offering access to recorded lessons and radio content that reinforce classroom teaching. The school’s ICT lab further expands opportunity by giving students hands-on experience with computers, digital learning materials, and multimedia lessons, equipping them with essential skills for the modern world. A well-stocked library nurtures literacy, creativity, and critical thinking, while the on-site clinic supports student and staff health through basic care, early detection, and prevention—helping reduce absenteeism and strengthen overall well-being.
