Bridge of Hope Children's Village is nestled in the green hillsides of Gondar, Ethiopia.
They have a unique model of wholistic care for the children. On the compound is a school, a central kitchen, apartments for family style living for the children, and vocational training. The children who come to Bridge of Hope are mainly there due to illnesses or from losing parents in the surrounding conflict. On their property they care for around 80 children in 10 homes.
The Tigray conflict was a civil war from 2020-2022 that continues to bring violence close to Bridge of Hope’s land. Because of the violence, it often shuts down main routes for trucks and planes to provide food to the region, which skyrockets costs.
